The Lion's Gift of Sight Hospital, Panadura (LGOSHP) is the largest image-building continuous project of District 306 A-1 situated at Galgoda Maha Viharaya Road, Galgoda, Panadura.
The Hospital is managed by a Board of Trustees appointed by Lions Clubs International District 306 A1. The Hospital is registered as a Private Hospital by the Ministry of Health Sri Lanka on a license issued by the Private Health Services Regulatory Council, under Registration No. PHSRC/PH/151.
Our Hospital in all aspects has the requirements to be classed as a fully fledged Comprehensive Eye Care facility with the assistance of a grant from Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF).
The Lions Eye Hospital consists of two fully equipped Operating Theaters, three Consultation Rooms for our Consultant Surgeons and Medical Officers, three wards with attached wash rooms and separate toilets for visitors, with a capacity of 40 beds, and other facilities for comfort of the patients, and serviced by competent Eye Consultants, visiting Eye Surgeons and experienced Eye Care Doctors and Nursing Staff.
We have successfully performed Cataract Surgeries for the poor segment of the society over the years. In addition to Cataract Surgeries, we provide OPD services on seven days of the week both morning and evening. A full service Laboratory, E.C.G., F.B.S. Eye Scanning and other medical facilities are available. We also have clinics for post-operative patients as directed by the Doctors and Surgeons. We do Pheco. Surgeries and offer Foldable and Large Optic Lenses on request at the government approved prices.
Our OPD section is open from 8.00am to 8.00pm six days of the week and on Sundays from 8.00 am to 2.00 pm depending on the availability of the Eye Medical Officers.
Consultation by Medical Officer from 9.00 am to 11am and 3pm to 8.00pm. Our specialist consultants are available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays by prior appointment.
We have morning diabetes clinics every Monday and Wednesday mornings to identify Glaucoma and Retinopathy patients and refer these patients to the eye Medical Officers for further treatment. Simultaneously, Diabetes Clinics to patients and visitors are held for the detection of Diabetes and follow up treatment. This is our ongoing continues CRS project - Free to Patients service.
Our Optical services to patients are available. Eye testing and Refraction is done by experienced Technician and Opticians. A variety of Spectacles and Reading Glasses are available at very reasonable prices. In-House Pharmacy with limited stock of medicines for the patients is available at low prices. We also supply Reading Glasses for outreach eye screening camps conducted by individual Lions Clubs, NGOs and other Service Organizations.
On request, our Eye Mobile unit Team conduct Lions Outreach Eye Camps organized by Lions Clubs and outreach eye camps requested by NGOs and other institutions to identify Cataract patients in the remote villages where the poorest of the poor villagers are examined by our eye medical officers and assisted by our team of medical personnel. Whose cataract patients identified are sponsored for surgeries carried out at our hospital absolutely Free of Charge to Patients.
The hospital also sponsor Free to Patients Cataract surgeries to those deserving and needy patients identified by the Hospital under our CSR program.
The Hospital conducts students Eye Camps at Schools. Our mobile team conducts at least two camps per month for vision testing, low vision students, and squint treatment. The low income group students whose parents cannot afford spectacles, the hospital supply them free of charge.
The Management of the Hospital requests all Lions and Lions Clubs in the Multiple to involved and have close interaction with the Hospital and avail the invaluable services offered by the hospital for the benefit of the needy people in our society.
The Board of Trustees request all clubs in the District 306 A1 to involved with the
Hospital to organize Outreach Eye Camps and find sponsors to do more Free to Patients Cataract .Surgeries.
LCIF SIGHT FIRST GRANT FOR CAPACITY BUILDING FOR COMPREHENSIVE EYE CARE.
We are pleased to announce that LCIF has approved our grant application to upgrade our Hospital to the standard of A COMPREHENSIVE EYE CARE HOSPITAL. The following services will be available within the next three months using following equipment provided under LCIF grant.
